Types of clay permitted at our studios

We use only cone 6 in this studio. Any other clay that is not available in the studio  must be approved by Technician and instructions must be followed explicitly so there is no contamination.

Danforth studio :

Only white or speckled clay is allowed (It may change as the studio grows). You can use stains for handbuilding only and use your own canvas only to mix / wedge and do not throw the water into the slip bucket.

Adelaide studio :

White, speckled and coloured clay is allowed.

Glazes

Glazes, underglaze and wax resist that you use in our studio needs to be paid extra on top of the membership fee for unlimited use ( Except Kiln Share members ). Members are not allowed to change the consistency of our glazes.  If you're worried the glaze is not the right consistency, please email us at tech@potterydream.com. Do not use it or alter it in any way.

You are allowed to use your own glaze and please make test tiles first before firing for the first time. The bottom of your pieces must be clean and no glaze. Messy bases will not be fired. Provide cookies or stilt if you are worried about your glaze dripping.

ANY glazes that runs will result in you being charged a $10 fee per piece.

Storage space and shelf space

We provide storage space 80x50cm for each member. Extra storage is $25 per month if available. We ask that members store their work on their personal shelf and not occupy space in the studio. All finished work on the ‘fired shelf’ needs to be removed weekly and stored on personal shelving to avoid congestion. Any work / personal belongings left unclaim for any period over 4 weeks may be disposed of at our discretion. You will not be eligible for any refund.

Hands Off

The kiln room is to be used by the technician and staff only. Do not open or take anything out of the kiln. Please avoid moving and/or touching other people's work and potentially damaging it.  You will be required to pay any damage caused. Please refer to your contract for the Danforth location for more information.

Payments, Deposit and Cancellation

Members are required to commit for 3 months before they can pause or cancel their membership. Members may suspend/pause their membership, only after the first 3 month period, for a  maximum of 2 months in any 12 month period. You can only pause one month at a time.

To cancel your membership, please provide 1 month’s notice in advance. Please ensure that you clear storage space promptly at the end of your membership. We will not be held responsible for anything left at the studio past the end of your membership and may dispose of this at our discretion. We recommend that members do not produce any more greenware in the last 2-3 weeks leading up to  the end of your membership. Once your membership has ended, you are no longer paying for our services and therefore we can no longer fire your work or give you access to the studio.

Our admin hours for both locations are from Tuesday - Saturday between 12-6 PM. We will try our best to get back to you as soon as possible.

Each member will have to pay a deposit of $100 and will be refunded at the end of your membership once the key is returned and storage shelves are cleared.

Danforth Studio :

Each member will have to pay a deposit of $100 and will be refunded at the end of your membership once the key is returned and storage shelves are cleared.

Payments will be made monthly via invoice. We will send an invoice for recurring payments for the first 3 months. After the 3 months, an email containing the payment link will be sent on every 24th of the month. Payments must be paid before the month ends.  We kindly request that you ensure a timely payment. Any outstanding payments not received will result in removal from the club and you have 4 days to clear your shelf and return our fob. Failure to clear them out within that time will result in the items being discarded and the loss of your deposits. If you wish to pause or do 2 - 3 weeks (can not pause/do weekly consecutively), let us know with WhatsApp before the 24th.  Otherwise you will have to pay a full month.

Adelaide Studio :

All payments are made online on our website. You will have to create a profile to access your membership and access our booking slot system. Membership is a fixed monthly fee. If you wish to cancel membership, please inform us via email to hello@potterydream.com 1 month in advance.

Keeping in touch and up to date

We are not always going to see you so it is important that you check your emails (both location) or WhatsApp (Danforth only). We will be sending out reminder emails/messages for upcoming events, or any changes in the studio.
